Marriage debate, abortion laws and other controversial issues in society

We have listened to various debates on TV and elsewhere on these modern day contentious issues but do we really understand what is going on in our society? Is there a simple explanation that has so far eluded us?

Can it be argued that these upheavals are simply acts of rebellion against God or at least against the word of God as written in the Bible. There is nothing new in this. The old Testament gives a complete history of the never ending acts of rebellion against God by the people of Israel over thousands of years. Sadly, they nearly always ended in tears and I suspect this current modern day rebellion, if that is what it is, may end the same way.

I will leave it to you to decide whether there is any credence to this theory, and what these various acts of rebellion could be, but one that might fit the bill, and has been around for a long time is the Abortion Act 1967. Read Psalm 139 v13 - 16 if you wish to know the mind of God.

Childcare job opportunities at Globalappointments.com

This August 2010 Globalappointments celebrates 5 years in the child care recruitment business. We set out in 2005 to provide a free service enabling child carers to advertise for work across the Globe using the Internet. We have stuck to our original aims and today increasing numbers are signing up to use our unique services.
Families may also advertise for free.

One of the important differences between Globalappointments and other companies is that there are no time limits on Globalappointments child care advertisements. With Globalappointments help, advertisers will be kept up-to-date with changes in the market place and will be ahead of the field when it comes to finding another job. Because of the precarious nature of child care work, particularly during the current economic climate, this can make the difference between having a job and being out of work for months on end.

We look forward to ever larger numbers of child carers signing up with us in the times ahead, and we will for our part continue to provide the very best service to our users worldwide.

Best wishes,

Globalappointments team

Misleading crime figures disgrace

The just released crime figures are totally misleading.

With little or no account taken of richer pickings from:

1) Human trafficking ($42.5 billion per annum)
2) Drug trafficking ($400 billion per annum)
3) Little action in the UK on Internet (cyber) crime ($119 billion per annum)

the figures just released are meaningless. The Government and Police need to wake up to the fact that criminals have moved on to target easier prey. It is a little known fact that there are more victims of human trafficking today than the numbers sold into slavery in the entire 400 year period of the 'Slave Trade'.

Human and drug trafficking is run by criminal gangs making vast sums of money. Human trafficking is rapidly overtaking drug trafficking in terms of the wealth it generates for the gangs, and Governments in the West are doing little to stop them. It can be argued that the previous Labour Goverment through its approval of lap dancing clubs actually encouraged human trafficking. Most of those trafficked are women and a high proportion are children sold into the sex trade. (1.2 million children per annum)

The few Internet criminals that are caught usually get light sentences, and of course now that Ken Clarke is running the show this situation will get worse.

Pregnacy matters

Exploding Birthing Myths - an alternative viewpoint?

1) Do husbands/partners really like to witness the birth of their offspring?

A very definite no, no, to this. Most husbands will say yes, when they
actually mean no, and can you blame them? Poor souls they prefer not to
think about it, and to fret in private, or better still seek commiseration
with their mates over a glass of beer.

2) Do mothers-to-be really like to have their husbands present at the birth?

Most women can think of nothing worse! They like to keep their privates,
private and can you blame them? A far better idea is to have another woman
present, such as a doula.

3) Do husbands yearn to hold their newborns seconds after the birth?

Definitely not! Men without exception don't like getting their hands
messy. Get it all cleaned and parcelled up nicely then present it to your
partner. This has the added advantage that you can play a guessing game
viz. so is it a boy or a girl then? Hint. wrap it tightly in neutral
colours first and they won't have a clue.

4) Being present at the birth fosters paternal bonding based on a shared
experience?

Firstly it is in no way a shared experience! Do men suffer the pain and
discomfort to even the slightest degree? Of course not! Secondly bonding
with whom? We can rule out baby because he/she thankfully won't remember a
thing about the birth, and mum would rather just forget the whole event
and get back to normal. Dads are just relieved when its all over and they
will rarely talk about it again, although they might suffer nightmares for
a while afterwards (only if they witnessed the event).

5) Mothers-to-be need to attend all the pre-natal courses available if
they are to stand any chance of surviving child birth?

Clearly this is complete tosh. Women have been giving birth for thousands
of years, and it is only recently that they have had the opportunity to
receive intensive pre-birth training. Giving birth is a completely natural
phenomena so why complicate and confuse the poor souls; just leave it to
nature. Intervention in this natural process is rarely necessary, unless
of course there are complications. No amount of head knowledge acquired by
the mother can be brought usefully to bear in such situations, in fact it
is more likely to increase the mothers anxiety. Give mothers the basics
and leave it at that.

In conclusion, take courage and ignore these fads, instead do what you
feel most comfortable with. For many couples this will mean turning back
the clock.

Globalappointments wish to make it clear that they do not necessarily agree with the views expressed above and merely wish to question modern wisdom in the light of history, and perhaps open up a wider debate on the subject. No one would wish to deny mothers-to-be their special status in society and rights to the best advice and help that current knowledge can offer.

Children in Church

Do Churches have anything to offer in our modern, secular world is a question many people ask?

So much has been done in recent years, particularly by scientists e.g. Richard Dawkins to undermine peoples faith in the existence of God that increasing numbers of people have turned away from traditionally held beliefs. Are people happy as a result? What does the evidence suggest? Broken homes, drug addiction, alcoholism, violence on the streets has dramatically increased as belief in God and churchgoing has diminished. Is there any connection between these 2 facts/trends? I will leave it to you to decide!

So have churches responded to the changes going on around them in an effort to keep alive the faith, which shone, so brightly in previous generations, or have they simply given up and gone away? Ask around in your local area about church based activities for children and teenagers and you will be surprised at just how much is on offer. In my experience these clubs are bursting at the seems so they must be getting something right! Human beings are spiritual creatures and for true fulfilment this yearning in all of us must be met. Where better place to find it than in the presence of other believers at your local church? Get your children off to a good start in life.

Garden Parties and Cricket

Yet again another week has gone by and the weather has been perfect. April so far has been wall to wall sun shine. Where are the April showers? Not that I'm complaining you understand.

George and Lucy have taken to this "summer" weather with great enthusiam and have refuse to eat inside. I tentatively asked why and was informed that in warm weather all good peopl eat outside. There was not a lot I could say to that one.

My small patio garden Looks like a bedowin tent with rugs and cushions everywhere. Still everyone including the cats seem to be very happy with the current arrangemants. My only slight problem comes when I try to water the garden. I did try to discuss this problem with Lucy but she pointed out that the hose pipe ban was bound to come into force soon enough so why was I trying to water my plants now, when they would die in a few months. Point taken!

There is one other slight problem I have with this unseasonally hot weather: Cricket. Not only is the world cup on but now I have to play it as well. To be honest I am a great fan of watch/listening to the cricket and even know what a Nelson is! (a score of 111, either of a team or an individual batsman, regarded by some as unlucky. Scores of 222 and 333 are called Double and Triple Nelson respectively.)But I am not good at playing the game. In fact hopeless is a fair description of my game.

Visiting Horton Park Children's Farm

What a great place Horton Park Children's Farm! I took children ranging from 8 months to 8 years and everyone had a wonderful time.
We arrived at 11.00 to find the car park almost full. Top tip arrive early, especially during the holidays/weekends. The first thing you see is a huge soft play indoor area (for wet days) and the shop. We went past all of this and headed out to the animals.

Lucy was very concerned she would not be able to "cuddle" all of the animals. Thankfully you are allowed to touch almost all of the animals and in fact when we were there one of the farm workers was helping children to hold little chicks. Lucy's day was made and we had only been there for half an hour.

Having spent two hours touching, holding and feeding animals of all types and ages we decided lunch was needed. The farm has a little tea shop/cafe which provides OK food for children.

Next we headed out to the play zones and spent 4 hours running and playing in the sun. All of the children had a fab day and went home happy and tired.

I would recommend this farm to anyone with children under the age of 10 years.
